Applesauce

This is a little applesauce recipe. If you don't mash at the end you could even use as apple pie filling, amongst other things.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 Apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced for even slicing consider a food processor
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon more or less to taste after you've tried making it once
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar once you've tried you can use my method of "rounded" 1/3 cup later ;)

Instructions

  • First thing I like to do is make sure I can find my medium saucepan
  • Peel, core, and shred 4 apples. If you don't have a food processor, slice the apples in to pieces half the width of a finger.
  • Add 1/2 cup water to the mediums saucepan and place shredded apples in the saucepan.
  • Spread on the 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon, stirring to combine with apples. Bring bring saucepan to medium heat, stirring occasionally. Continue cooking until the apples pieces are soft and mushy. This takes about 30 minutes.
  • Stir in brown sugar and mix well. Here you can mash by hand (think potato masher) or you can use an immersion mixer, or blender)

Notes

Applesauce, yum. If you skip the second half of step 5 you can use this as apple pie filling with a few additions ;)
This applesauce recipe makes great compote for desserts too, or pancakes, or waffles, or ...
