Uninstall Symantec Norton Antivirus but forgot or lost password
Common question that starts like:
"I fogot my Norton Admin Password ... " or "My administrator is no longer here and we don't know the password ... "
Here is your answer and how you will go about fixing it to uninstall the client:
1. Click on start
2. Click on Run
3. type REGEDT32 and hit Enter
4. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\AdministratorOnly\Security
5. Locate and double-click on the UseVPUninstallPassword
a) Now change that value to a 0 instead of a 1
6. Click OK
7. Close REGEDT32
8. Navigate to Add/Remove programs and uninstall your Symantec Norton Antivirus product
